چکیده

Introduction Sports-related knee injuries are common, with contact sports and sports involving twisting movements being the most frequent causes. Sports injuries may affect any of the knee structures, including ligaments, menisci, bones, cartilage and periarticular soft tissues. However, relatively few injuries involve isolated structures, with complex injuries affecting multiple structures being much more common. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is now widely used for imaging injuries of internal structures of the knee, and has replaced conventional arthrography and diagnostic arthroscopy. It is superior to computed tomography (CT) for imaging of soft tissue structures. Accurate MR imaging diagnosis and interpretation allow a more complete identification of the extent of injuries and aids clinical management.

Study of Coincidence of Hoffa’s Fat Pad Associated Injuries in Knee Traumas in Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Background and Objective: Hoffa’s fat pad injuries are often caused by acute direct and indirect trauma and chronic recurrent micro-trauma, and its disorders are associated with other traumas and injuries that have been less paid attention to in radiological studies. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the injuries associated with Hoffa’s fat pad injury in knee trauma using the diag...

Measurement of Posterior Tibial Slope Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Background: Posterior tibial slope (PTS) is an important factor in the knee joint biomechanics and one of the bone features, which leads to knee joint stability. Posterior tibial slope affects flexion gap, knee joint stability and posterior femoral rollback that are related to wide range of knee motion. During high tibial osteotomy and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery, proper retaining the...

The magnetic resonance imaging appearance of individual structures of the posterolateral knee. A prospective study of normal knees and knees with surgically verified grade III injuries.

The purpose of this study was to contrast the magnetic resonance imaging appearance of uninjured components of the posterolateral knee with that of injured structures, and to assess the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging in identifying posterolateral knee complex injuries. Thin-slice coronal oblique T1-weighted images through the entire fibular head were used to identify the posterolateral ...

Knee and ankle ligaments: magnetic resonance imaging findings of normal anatomy and at injury.

Ligamentous injuries of the lower limb are a common entity sustained during sports activities and military training. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the knee and ankle is playing an increasingly important role in the detection, diagnosis and prognosis of these injuries and their associated complications. MR imaging with its exquisite soft tissue contrast resolution and multiplanar capability...

A Pilot Trial on Kinematic Magnetic Resonance Imaging Using a Superconducting, Horizontally Opened, 1.2 T Magnetic Resonance System

PURPOSE This study was performed to introduce and evaluate the potential of kinematic magnetic resonance imaging (KMRI) using a high-field open-magnet magnetic resonance (MR) system. METHODS We attempted to perform KMRI of healthy volunteers' lumbar spine and knee in the lateral position and ankle in the supine position utilizing the superconducting, horizontally opened, 1.2 T MR system (OASI...
